Are your little ones Nickelodeon fans? Then add Sea World on your must-visit list when you are on the Gold Coast. Not only does Australia’s premier marine animal park showcases rides and animal exhibits, but it also has a precinct called Nickelodeon Land.

Nickelodeon Land

This Sea World precinct opened in late 2015. It showcases several Nickelodeon character- themed rides, daily LIVE shows to enjoy plus a meet and greet with their famous characters. There are actually three neighbourhoods within Nickelodeon land.

1. The Battleground of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

This is the beloved shell of the famous teenage anthropomorphic turtles named after Italian Renaissance artists – Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael. Here your kids can meet and the four brothers. Cowabunga, right?

Besides meet and greets, the battleground of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also has an interactive ride the kids might want to try. It is called Donatello’s Ninja Flyers Ride which consists of six hang glider-style vehicles.

Each hang glider can seat two people, preferably a child who is between 90 cm to 120 cm in height and accompanied by an adult. Since the riders have full control and can pedal the glider as the ride soars up, down and around, children below 90 cm are not allowed.

2. The Enchanting World of Dora the Explorer and Boots

It’s Dora, Dora, Dora the explorer! Surely your little princess is a fan of Dora and Boots. Do you know what would make their day even better? A cute meet and greet with this fantastic duo. Once you’re done with the meetup or while you wait, there are two rides to try in this neighbourhood.

First on the list is the classic 30-horse carousel ride called Dora’s Fiesta Carousel. Take note, kids under 107 cm must be accompanied by an adult. The second ride is called Boots’ Banana Boogie. Kids get to ride a banana-shaped car which rises up and down and rotates. Height restriction for Boots’ Banana Boogie is 105 cm and must be accompanied by an adult.

3. Bikini Bottom – The Wacky Underwater World of SpongeBob SquarePants

“Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?” If you heard your kids sing this, then make sure to drop by Bikini Bottom. This is the home of their favourite characters SpongeBob SquarePants making it the perfect place to meet and greet him and his friends!

While you are there, do check out the neighbourhood’s three rides like the Bikini Bottom Crosstown Express. It is a brightly coloured submarine “bus” carriage that not only spins but also slides up and down a short u-shaped track.

If the kids are too scared for that thrill ride, Patrick's Jellyfish Frenzy is a little subtle. Its teacup style pods just spin round and round. The last ride is a small children’s coaster called SpongeBob’s Boating Blast Mini Coaster. This coaster is designed after Mr.s Puff’s Boating School. Take note, there is a height restriction of 120 cm and kids below this height must be accompanied.
