Is there anything better than a summer holiday to the exciting world famous Queensland coastal city of the Gold Coast? Only when it’s full of action packed family adventures with long sundrenched days spent exploring the biggest and best theme parks! With some of the best in Australia it’s no wonder that the GC is a favourite holiday spot for families. Find out why our theme parks should definitely be on your Queensland travel itinerary this summer.

Water Parks Galore!

It’s no surprise with the subtropical south east Queensland climate and warm summer temperatures, plus an average of 300 sunny days a year that the Gold Coast is primed for water fun! There are some seriously awesome ways to cool off and get wet at our Gold Coast theme parks.

The biggest water park is of course Wet‘n’Wild, with more water fun than you could possibly get through in one day! There’s water slides for all ages with the thrilling Tornado, the Super 8 Aqua Racer, Mammoth Falls, the Surfrider, the Constrictor, and Kamikaze to really get your adrenaline pumping!

You can take a more chilled out approach with a dip in the wave pool, floating around Calypso Bay, or soaking in Whirlpool Springs. Younger kids will just love Wet’n’Wild Junior, including the huge play structure and family friendly interactive lagoons. At the end of the day there’s nothing more relaxing than chilling out and watching the sun go down from your floatie as you watch a Dive In Movie from the water.

WhiteWater World is another fantastic spot for water fun! Located just beside Dreamworld, smaller children can laugh, play, splash, and slide at the lifeguard patrolled Wiggle Bay. The Pipeline Plunge is an enormous ‘tree fort’ where you can climb, slide, and get drenched from head to toe when the big water bucket overflows and tips over. There are also great waterslides like the Super Tubes Hydrocoaster, Triple Vortex, The Rip, The Bro, and The Greenroom to enjoy. Then chill out after a dip in the Cave of Waves on the sun lounges in a luxury Cabana.

Sea World has its very own water play hot spot with The Reef at Castaway Bay. This interactive splash zone is the perfect way to cool off, and parents can relax in the shade while the kids burn off some energy at one of Australia’s largest aquatic play zones. There are water cannons, fountains, and spouts amidst colourful animal sculptures and the reef landscape. It’s hours of fun on its own, and a must for families visiting Sea World.

Thrills Aplenty

For all of you thrill seekers, our Gold Coast theme parks are tailor made for adrenaline junkies looking to get their heart racing! Spin, dip, drop, race, twist and turn, and push your senses to the limit with the incredible thrill rides available for you to experience.

If high energy excitement is what you are craving, Warner Bros. Movie World is a brilliant spot to visit. The DC Rival Hypercoaster is not for the faint of heart, it’s the tallest, longest, and fastest of its type in the Southern hemisphere, and if you are seeking the ultimate thrill… you can even ride it backwards! There’s also the Green Lantern Coaster with one of the steepest drops around, Doomsday Destroyer which is a horrific looping ride for only the bravest among us, and of course the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster for any thrill seeking kids ready for a fright!

Dreamworld is Australia’s biggest theme park, and has no shortage of rides for you to experience. The Buzzsaw is the tallest inversion ride on this side of the world and reaches speeds of up to 105km an hour! Hot Wheels Sidewinder, Pandamonium, Tail Spin, The Giant Drop, and The Claw will leave you gasping and shrieking. Kids will love the pint sized rides as part of the Dreamworks Experience, and including the Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Madagascar Madness, and Shrek’s Faire Faire Away.

Sea World boasts a phenomenal range of rides for all ages, including the Sea World Sky Flyer, the Vortex, the Storm Coaster, Jet Rescue Coaster, The New Atlantis, and a great selection of kids rides in Nickelodeon Land!

Get Wild!

Animal enthusiasts everywhere will be spoiled for choice when it comes to getting up close and witnessing the incredible beauty of wildlife experiences on the Gold Coast. Dreamworld has the world famous Tiger Island, as well as Dreamworld Corroboree where you can learn about our native heritage and meet koalas, kangaroos, crocs, dingoes and more!

Sea World gives you the chance to visit with penguins, polar bears, seals, dolphins, sharks, manta rays, tropical fish, jellyfish and so much more! Paradise Country is your chance to experience traditional Aussie farm life including stock horse mustering, shearing sheep, breakfast with koalas, a farmyard nursery, and even a wildlife walkthrough including marmoset monkeys! There are also wildlife parks on the Gold Coast that you will love, including Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and David Fleays Wildlife Park.

No matter which of these incredible activities most tickles your fancy, there’s simply no doubt that a family visit to the Gold Coast will be action packed and perfect for making holiday memories! You can view more local attractions here.
